Running a rodeo bull: space, staffing and safety
A mechanical rodeo bull is one of the highest-engagement attractions per square metre — provided the venue, operator and safety setup are planned properly.
Space and the safety mattress
The bull operates inside an inflatable safety mattress (air cushion) that surrounds the mechanism and catches riders. The real footprint of the attraction is the mattress size plus operating clearance around it — dimensions for VIV models are listed on each product page.
Plan for a power supply for both the bull drive and the mattress blower, and for level ground; requirements per model are stated in the specifications.
Staffing
A rodeo bull is an operator-controlled ride: a trained operator adjusts speed and movement patterns to each rider, briefs participants and stops the ride when needed. It is not a walk-up, self-service attraction.
VIV agrees the operating model and supervision requirements for each project before delivery, so your staffing plan matches the unit you buy.
Compliance
Mechanical rides are covered by EN 13814, the European standard for fairground and amusement machinery. VIV builds its rodeo bulls to this standard and confirms documentation per project — which is what venues and insurers will ask to see.
